Olivia Liao, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Meet Dr. Liao
Dr. Olivia Liao is originally from New York City. She attended Stuyvesant High School and The Juilliard School, graduating at age 16, before entering Boston University’s six-year combined medical program.
She completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and became board certified in Internal Medicine in 1994. She then practiced as an internist at Harvard Community Health Plan in Burlington. Dr. Liao completed her residency in Ophthalmology at Tufts New England Medical Center, where she served as co–chief resident in her senior year. She is board certified in Ophthalmology and has maintained certification throughout her career.
Following her training, Dr. Liao joined Lexington Eye Associates, where she provides comprehensive ophthalmic care.
Dr. Liao is an active leader in organized medicine. She has been a member of the Massachusetts Medical Society since 1988 and currently serves as its 143rd President (2025–2026). She is also a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the American Medical Association, the New England Ophthalmological Society and the Massachusetts Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons.
She has received numerous honors recognizing her leadership, service, and clinical excellence in ophthalmology. She remains active at the Emerson Hospital, participating as a staff officer and at their fundraising events.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Liao enjoys reading, knitting, gardening, tennis, swimming, and music. She is married and has three children.
